and the fact that we work with expert practitioners in the safest, minimally invasive and

any type of surgery have been greatly decreased. To give you some perspective, the
risk for this type of surgery can be compared to that of an appendix or gallbladder
surgery. In fact it can be said that it is now safer to have a weight loss surgery than it is
to remain obese. Having a bariatric procedure can correct or at the very least improve
multiple diseases that are a direct result of obesity (examples below)
High blood pressure, Osteoarthritis, Type 2 diabetes, Breast cancer, Stroke, Colon cancer, High cholesterol, Sleep apnea, Gallbladder disease & Death
Basics
What is your BMI?
Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is a determining factor in deciding which surgery is best for you regarding both safety and the desired results. Your BMI needs to be at least 30 to qualify for weight loss surgery. If your BMI is under 40, some bariatric procedures require you to have obesity-related health conditions in order to qualify.

Bariatric Surgery Description
Gastric Sleeve
Gastric Sleeve
Also known as a sleeve gastrectomy, this procedure sees a large portion of the stomach removed from the patient. In contrast with the gastric bypass surgery, the gastric sleeve surgery is only a restrictive procedure. Since it greatly reduces the size of the patients stomach, the sensation of fullness comes much faster since the patients intake of food is greatly reduced. Another reason why this procedure is so popular and effective is that it removes the portion of the stomach responsible for the production of Ghrelin, which is also known as the hunger hormone. It is generally considered a less complicated procedure and no nutritional deficiencies occur since the small intestine is left intact. This procedure is seen as the safest option in the family of bariatric procedures.
Gastric Bypass
Gastric Bypass
This is known as a restrictive and malabsorption procedure which will alter the way your stomach and small intestine process the food you intake. It is considered a non-reversible gastrointestinal procedure that will alter both organs permanently. The results of such a procedure are astounding and an effective solution for obesity and long term weight loss. Patients improve their health significantly with this procedure as well as their self-confidence. The procedure will section off a portion of the patient’s stomach to decrease the amount of food that can be consumed. Also divided and rerouted will be a portion of the small intestine which will limit the amount of calories the body can absorb.
Mini Gastric Bypass
Mini Gastric Bypass
The mini gastric bypass works both by restricting the amount of food that can be eaten at any one time, and by altering gut hormones involved in appetite control. It functions just like a traditional gastric bypass surgery bun in that, the stomach is divided into upper and lower pouches and the small intestine is rerouted. This allows for both restrictive and malabsorption weight loss. The primary difference between the mini gastric bypass surgery and a full gastric bypass is that the mini version of the surgery is performed in a modified manner that involves less intestinal rerouting and a shorter overall surgery time. Less cutting means less risk and a faster recovery.
Lap Band
Lap Band
Gastric banding is a type of weight loss surgery that involves the placing of an adjustable silicone belt around the upper portion of the stomach to decrease stomach size and reduce food intake. The band is made of silicone and can be tightened by adding saline to fill it. The surgeon places the band around the upper portion of the stomach and attaches a tube to the band. The tube is accessible through a port under the skin of the abdomen. This port is used to introduce or remove saline into the band to inflate or deflate it. Adjustments can alter the degree of constriction around the stomach which makes it a very dynamic option. The Lap-band is a reversible procedure.

3-MAKE THE $500 SCHEDULING DEPOSIT
4-SCHEDULE YOUR PRE-OP CONSULTATION & PROCEDURE
Once you fill out the Patient Health History Form you can call our information & scheduling department to ask any additional questions you may have, and to work on potential dates for your surgery. We would also require you to disclose any other health issues that our medical team should take into consideration when studying your case, such as allergies or other significant and relevant conditions that our surgeons should consider. Once we have that information our doctors will review your medical history and if approved we will send you notification of such approval 24 hours after your initial call or email and form submission. This is because your approval will be determined by multiple factors like your current weight and any health complications you may be dealing with due to the unhealthy weight you’ve gained.
Once your written form is approved, you will be required to make your scheduling deposit in order to move forward with your pre-op online consultation which will also help you determine which bariatric procedure is right for you. It is at this point that you will have access to our surgeon through Skype or other electronic form.
Here you will be asked additional questions about your health history and in turn you will be able to ask pertinent questions if you wish to do so. From this point forward one of our patient coordinators will stay in contact with you as you move forward with travel arrangements and book your roundtrip flights to San Diego’s International Airport.
Once your travel plans have been confirmed, you will need to communicate this to our specialists who will arrange for your procedure to be set the day after your arrival, will arrange for your accommodations and the airport pick up for you and your guest.
We accept cash & PayPal. To begin the process you must make a $500 scheduling deposit which is non-refundable and will be applied to the overall cost of your package. Once you have had your online pre-op consultation, and the date of your procedure has been established you will be required to cover 50% of the package cost on the day of your arrival. If you want to cover such payment using PayPal, it should be done before your trip. A transaction fee of 5% will be added to such payment. There is no transaction fees for cash payments upon arrival (no checks are accepted).
The day of your procedure, as you check-in for your surgery at the hospital the balance must be covered before your procedure in order to move forward. If you cover this payment with credit or debit card on site, a transaction fee between 3-5% will be added to such payment. There is no transaction fees for cash payments (no checks are accepted).
Dietary Requirements
What you can and can't eat.
Once you book a bariatric surgery with us, you will be provided with the dietary plan you will need to follow in the months/weeks leading up to the procedure. This is very important since what you eat can have a direct effect on your candidacy for the surgery. You need to consider that since your food consumption amount will drastically decrease after the surgery, it will be more important than ever to procure quality food, rich in nutrients so as to make what you actually do eat count. You will also need to consume enough protein to maintain muscle that could otherwise erode due to the rapid weight loss you will experience. You will want to keep as much muscle mass as possible and minimize the malnutrition side effects that come with a malabsorption procedure which in some cases includes temporary hair-loss.
As the date of your surgery draws closer, your doctor will instruct you to go into a strict liquid only diet. Examples of various liquids that can be consumed during this one to two week time period include: Clear Broths, Meal Replacement Shakes, Protein Shakes, Sugar-free Beverages, V8 (Vegetable Juices) and in some cases thin cream of wheat or cream of rice may be consumed. But patients should bring this up with our doctors during the pre-op consultations before considering such foods.
IMPORTANT
Caffeinated and carbonated drinks are strictly forbidden, and patients should wait at least 30 minutes between meals and the consumption of liquids. It is vital that you follow these directions as instructed since not doing so may make the procedure impossible to perform and will require a rescheduling of your procedure. This none-compliance may also include monetary penalization which may be taken from deposits you made if services were already acquired on your behalf.
During this time, patients should strive to:
-Eat More Protein since it will help you feel full quicker, and help preserve muscle once you begin losing weight.
-Take Multivitamins which can complement your regular diet, so taking them should become part of your routine.
-Avoid Alcohol because after your surgery, changes to the digestive tract (bypass) can cause you to become intoxicated more easily. Alcohol not only contains empty calories, but consumption can also affect willpower and lead to unhealthy eating patterns.
Our team of physicians and nutritionist will provide you with a specific dietary strategy to fit your body. Remember that these dietary instructions are not just meant for you to qualify for your surgery, but rather these new eating habits if kept, may ensure the long-term effects of your bariatric procedure. Your post-op diet will have four stages:
1-Liquid Diet 2-Pureed Foods 3-Soft Foods & 4-Solid Foods (Gradual)
Before you travel
Prepping your home
Recovering from a procedure like this will take at least six weeks where you will need assistance from hired help or loved ones. You will need to make these arrangements before you return from your surgery in order to have the right meals prepared for you, assistance with dependents like children or elderly relatives. Shopping for the right foods and vitamin supplements is also something you must account for. Making diligent plans will ensue you do not curtail your recovery process during this time and that any responsibilities you are unable to care for may be handled by other you delegate to. In other words, make good plans and arrangements.
